Brief Sketch of a Remarkable Woman

------ Has Many Relatives in Henry County

"First paragraph illegible"

Near the beautiful little village of Clifton, Union County, Indiana, resides Mrs. Susan Cully, which in many respects is one of the most remarkable woman in this state. Susan Alexander was born October 14, 1811. Her parents migrated to the territory of Indiana in 1814, two years before it was admitted as a state. Her father, Jacob Alexander was a soldier in the Indian wars and was with "Mad Anthony Wayne" throughout the memorable campaign which won for that ______ general the name of "Mad Anthony," and taught the Indians a never forgotten lesson.

Mrs. Cully talks most entertainingly of many historical ____ _____ ____ in by her father, her ____ of pioneer ........."illegible"

After Mr. Adney's death she married ?Sampson Cully, who died only a few years since. She was a great admirer of Andrew Jackson and many are the "Old Hickory" _____ she ____ that were new in her girlhood days. that she was intellectually strong and retains her mental faculties to a remarkable degree, can be demonstrated to the entire satisfaction of any one who is will take a stroll with her..

"Among the beautiful pictures

that hang on Memory's wall"

This delightful old lady entertains her callers in royal style in the hospitable home of her genial son-in-law Dan Harvey, with whom she resides, enjoying all the pleasures that love and wealth can procure, the temporal reward for an energetic, well spent life.

As she relates incidents of the old Colonial days that were told to her by her father, who witnessed them, it is indeed difficult to realize that one is not dreaming. that the lives of a father and daughter were co-existent with that of our country, from a period prior to it's birth as a nation to the present time, when she so proudly takes her place as the head as the most powerful and well as the most enlighten nation in the world is certainly remarkable.

Mrs. Cully is the grandmother of Mrs. Jacob Hoover, Mrs. _____ ____ ...
